There is a lot to be said for the high ISO capabilities of newer cameras.

This is one of my favorite images from the last year. Probably because I enjoyed the drive so thoroughly. It's crazy to think that this was almost a year ago. What have I dont since then? ... Quite a bit I guess. I'll be launching a new blog soon as I head off to Costa Rica for three months. I hope you will follow me there as well.

A couple taken with my point and shoot from this past weekend's snowpocolpyse / snowmaggedon / snow-whatever-you-want-to-call it.  With another 10-20 inches expected Tuesday evening, expect more "real" photos from me.

I went out mushroom hunting today with Stan Hudson and his friend Jon.  They bagged a total of 90 morel mushrooms.

I finally made it out to Eagle Bluffs again to take a few pictures.  Not quite the afternoon I was "expecting" but it wasn't too bad.

I went home to Arizona for Thanksgiving Break, it really is a beautiful state.  This photo was taken on the outskirts of the Chiricahua Mountains in the southeast corner of the state.

The CPOY contest is finally over, I finally have my life back (sorta).  Here are two more scanned images the sunset is from Baja Califonia, the snow covered mountains are ouside of Puente del Inca in Argentina near the Chilean border.

Last night I finally had time to scan a few rolls of film.  The above "photo" is the result of 4 overlapping frames shot on a Holga.  Click here to see a larger version.

Two photos I dug up while organizing my archive.

I shot three sports briefly today: swimming, wheelchair basketball, and weightlifting.  Here are just a few photos from these events.

Today I tried to start scanning a few of my many negatives, slides, etc... Not too much luck, scanner was not working, mismatched profiles, etc...  Anyways here are two 35mm images from La Jolla, California in July.

Mizzou won 42-21 against Buffalo today.  Nothing special in terms of photos, the game was a bit boring.

Another Missouri Football game...Missouri vs Nevada 69-17.

My first football scrimmage, practice, or game since November...and my first sporting even since maybe December.  It is good to be back shooting.

You may have thought that only poor middle and high school students were required to take group photos on bleachers.  A ~100 member college football team is not easy to arrange on bleachers, I was glad that that was not my job.

Wind generators and an old windmill, the same idea with a different scale.  The funny part is that neither the windmill nor the wind generators were turning.  Texahoma, Texas -- August 07, 2008.

I really do like San Diego / La Jolla, California.  You just can't beat the weather here.

Well I don't think I will be revisiting any of my Argentina photos in the future (for the use of posting to this blog), minus the scans that I will be doing of my medium format photos in the coming weeks.  Photographically speaking the 5 months I spent in Argentina were nothing exceptional.  Argentina is a beautiful country with an endless supply of gorgeous photo opportunities.  But I accepted early on into the trip that I was not there to photograph, I was there to take in the culture and the language as an observer on the first hand level, not as a photographer from the outside.  So I found that there were countless times when either I did not have a camera or I opted to simply enjoy the sights with my own eyes (this is a selfish reason I admit).  I do not regret it; the photographic outcome of the trip was not what I was expecting, but in no way does that diminish my love and respect for the country that I had the privileged to live in for 5 months. And if anything I am now motivated more than ever to pick up a camera and make pictures.  So be expecting frequent updates to this site in the future (especially of Eagle Bluffs in Missouri--I am coming after you).  Hasta luego.

These are a few photos I took with my point-and-shoot digital camera around the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo campus during my last day on campus.  Of all "las facultades" that are on campus: the students of filosofía y letras, and especially ciencias politicas and ciencias economicas are known for expressing themselves very freely by pasting the walls of the buildings with signs, banners, posters etc...  Earlier in the semester there were banners that ran the entire 3 story height of the law building.  Just thought that these pictures provided an interesting insight into the life of a foreign student within the Argentine public education system.

Six photos I never posted of Puente del Inca and Los Penetintes in the Andes Mountains outside of Mendoza, Argentina.  Over the next few days I will be catching up on posting some photos from my 5 months in Argentina.  I will also be taking about 12-14 rolls of medium format 120 film to be developed this week.

I am uploading two quick photos of a local cobbler in Mendoza as I sit here in the Buenos Aires airport.  (After receiving complaints that I hadn't updated my blog in quite some time).  More photos later.

A few photos of a Saturday tango class in the cafeteria at the public university, it was a nice change to get out and take some photos of some human subjects.  Expect more tango soon.

Puente del Inca (one HDR photo, one truck, and a dog) and Uspallata (panoramic) from this last Friday.  Puente del inca is about 15km from Chile and at 10,000feet.

I had to complete a pinhole camera assignment for my photography class...instead of the normal oatmeal box or peanut can, I made a pinhole "lense" for my Digital Nikon SLR and shot away.  Some photos from Puente del Inca in the Andes mountains and General San Martín Park in Mendoza.

On May 25 in 1810 a small "revolution" took place in Buenos Aires that displaced the Spanish viceroy of Rio de la Plata.  ¡Feliz día de la patria!

Sunday I went to Potrerillos which is about an hour and a half by bus outside of Mendoza city. About 4 years ago they built a damn in the valley which now forms Lago Potrerillos. I also just uploaded another set of photos behind this one so click the previous button.

Today I returned from a trip to Patagonia / Bariloche near Chile.  These are four HDR or high dynamic range photos that use between 2-6 photos to acheive a larger tonal range than normally possible.  I will post more photos from the trip when I have time.

I visited San Rafael, Mendoza (a department of the Mendoza state about 2.5hrs to the South) this past weekend with my study abroad program. It was a beautiful place that reminded me a lot of Arizona. There are even many of the same plants (Creosote, Desert Sage, etc...). Off to Bariloche on Tuesday.

Sunday night I went to the first repetition of La Fiesta Nacional de La Vendimia, a huge stage performance in an outdoor Greco Ampitheter in Parque San Martín. The performance lasted nearly 2 hours and involved over 850 dancers/performers, it all ended in a 25minute firework show. La Vendimia is a yearly event that includes multiple events lasting over a week and culminating in the election of a Reina or Queen of the Vendimia.

Here are a few random photos from my very quick visit to Buenos Aires. Nothing special, sites include: La Recoleta, Barrancas de Alvear (Río Plata), El Congreso, La Boca, y Puerto Madero.
